Where exactly are the user credentials stored in this method of authentication? I’m trying to move away from LDAP, but still need to auth. backup user on a website.

I am not entirely sure what is being asked. If you are asking how to switch the authentication type then this is going to either have to be done during installation or also you can change this in the BackupServer.ini file in the Authentication line. you can replace the LDAP part with NT-Local for Windows Auth, NT-PDC for Domain auth, and NNW-Authentication for the new SQL auth. After you swtich this you have to restart the Backup Server service.

| IS the "NNW-Authentication for the new SQL auth" a novastor propriatory auth or is it a standard that can be used to authenticate backup clients that visit a web page.

It is a proprietary authentication method. You will still want to use LDAP / Active Directory if you are using it as a login provider for a management website.
