    ***CAUTION STATEMENT***
    IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ!

    NovaStorNovaStorNovaStor
    • Upgrading your server: NovaNet-WEB v7.1 will successfully upgrade a v6.x and 7.x NovaNet-WEB Server. If you are running v4.x or v4.x of NovaNet-WEB Server, you cannot perform a direct upgrade. You will be required to upgrade the server to v5.x first, and then perform another upgrade to v6.x
    • Clients running v5.x or v6.x of NovaNet-WEB Client can connect to a v7.1 NovaNet-WEB Server and successfully upgrade assuming you are not using Backup Account Authentication, which was just added in v7.0 of the server software.
    • If you upgrade to v7.1 of NovaNet-WEB Server/Client you cannot roll back the server or client to a previous version of the software.
    • Clients running v7.1 cannot connect to lower server versions.
    • Make sure you make a backup of your database before upgrading.
    • If you are using customized ACS clients please make sure to take out the NovaStor upgrade .pat file and rebuild your .pat file on the ACS website and put it in the upgrade folder.

    Release Notes - What's New/Fixed/Known Issues

    NovaStorNovaStorNovaStor
    Please note that installing v7.1 on top of your existing installation will also install a client upgrade. Any client connecting to your backup server will automatically (unless you have disabled that option) be upgraded to a v7.1 Client level.

    Fixes/Updates in NovaNet-WEB (Client/Server) Version 7.1.31.0
    ====================

    Server
    - Backup thread initiated rollup aborts last up to 3 seconds.
    - Server checks for empty account name passed from client.
    - Rollups are server shutdown safe; should not corrupt storage.
    - Server waits for volumes that were backed up to be saved.
    - Sending a 0 byte file multiple times would cause the storage for that file to be said to be corrupt.
    - If the first full backup of a file failed because of an IO error during file create or seek, the backup server produced a storage file with a storage header only and marked it as corrupt.

    Client
    - Full code review was done to prevent *any* popup from occurring if an error occurs while a schedule is running.
    - Add code to make it so upgrades from 6.x while running from local system would not have the traycontrol.exe running as localsystem account causing crashes.
    - Client was ignoring setting to use a different port besides 25 for SMTP email notifications.
    - Refresh issue on desktop and start menu icon was not putting the customized icon there.
    - An automatic upgrade on some windows 2000 machines would decrease all icon sizes to 0 on the system.

    Known Issues in NovaNet-WEB (Client/Server) Version 7.1.31.0
    ====================

    - When adding a filter to a folder and the user has no data on the backup server the client can become non responsive.
    - Choosing a smart select item on the home page and then immediately clicking save can unselect whatever else is in the backup set.
    - Backup history dates of a file when backing up an older file than the last backup shows incorrectly.
    - Open File Backup does not work on Vista 64bit.
    - There are still certain cases where a customized icon will not be updated on a scheduled backup that does an automatic upgrade.
