***CAUTION STATEMENT***
IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ!

• Upgrading your server: NovaNet-WEB v7.0 will successfully upgrade a v6.x and 7.x NovaNet-WEB Server. If you are running v4.x or v4.x of NovaNet-WEB Server, you cannot perform a direct upgrade. You will be required to upgrade the server to v5.x first, and then perform another upgrade to v6.x
• Clients running v5.x or v6.x of NovaNet-WEB Client can connect to a v7.0 NovaNet-WEB Server and successfully upgrade assuming you are not using Backup Account Authentication, which was just added in v7.0 of the server software.
• If you upgrade to v7.0 of NovaNet-WEB Server/Client you cannot roll back the server or client to a previous version of the software.
• Clients running v7.0 cannot connect to lower server versions.

Instructions on installing/upgrading your current NovaNet-WEB

• In order to install or upgrade your backup server to v7.0, you MUST already have SQL 2000/SQL 2005 installed on an available network or local system.  (NOTE: If you are using SQL 2005 Express, you must enter .\SQLEXPRESS as the server name when installing the NovaNet-WEB Backup Server software if the SQL server is on that machine)
• This release includes support for Open File Backup using Microsoft's Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). However, In order to utilize Open File Backup, the NovaNet-Web Client must be run on either Windows XP or 2003.
  
  Note: Open File Backup option requires at least one NTFS drive to operate and Logged-in User must have Administrative rights.

Fixes/Updates in NovaNet-WEB (Client/Server) Version 7.0.52.0

- server: When installing the backup server in an auth other than backup server authentication it adds a blank user to the db.
- server: Specific cases of migrating the server database from 6.8 to 7.0 does not go correctly.
- server: Server setup installer should only ask for an Administrator account when using simple authentication.
- server: Can not use the Data Restore Wizard if the data was made with a 6.8 client/server.
- server: Remove unsupported languages in the Data Restore Wizard.

- client: Scheduling on a machine that is using 24:00 hr clock does not let you know am/pm.
- client: Client crashes when trying to backup System State on certain systems.
- client: Opening the client software via the traycontrol will not allow you to open a different backup set.
- client: With deleted file list enabled with multiple backups sets does not work correctly.
- client: Filling out the email notification information requires SMTP username and password even if your smtp server does not need it.
- client: During backup of plug-ins the app looks hung, and the flashlight doesn't move.
 

Other Important Items

Please make sure that when you are doing an upgrade that you are on the latest service pack of SQL, as we have had some issues, especially with early versions of SQL Express, but we have sorted those out.  It would just be a good idea to be on the latest service pack of SQL for a precaution though.
